Joe Brown is considered the foremost rock climber and mountaineer of his generation, and perhaps the greatest all round mountaineer ever. You can read a biography of his climbing career if you click here.
In 1966 Joe opened the Llanberis climbing shop with his wife Val. The Capel Curig shop opened a couple of years later and over the years the shops have earned the reputation of being among the best specialist climbing equipment and outdoor gear shops in the UK. In April 2010 we opened "The Corner Shop" in Llanberis, it specialises in footwear with a professional boot fitting service, trail & fell running, travel equipment, family outdoor & gear for kids.
As an independent mountaineering, climbing equipment and outdoor shop we focus on providing honest and personal advice, as well as great ranges of mountaineering, rock climbing, ice climbing, walking, hiking, expedition and alpine climbing equipment.
As well as our general on line store we have some specific and dedicated brand areas where we highlight more extensive ranges from our closest and favorite partners.
DMM Climbing Gear on line Shop. As perhaps you would expect with DMM only 5 minutes down the road, we are very committed to this great local climbing company. We stock most of DMM's climbing equipment range and are usually the first to receive new products. We always have great deals and offers on DMM so check out the store now.
Marmot On Line Shop. Another favorite brand is Marmot, they have a huge range of waterproofs, softshells, gloves, tents, rucksacks and sleeping bags and we try to represent them across all their categories. You will always find some good savings and offers in our Marmot on line shop.
Mountain Equipment on line Shop. Mountain Equipment is a key brand to Joe Browns and very important locally as they are the major sponsor of Plas Y Brenin as well as working closely with and supporting LLAMFF. Mountain Equipment has one of the best UK brand heritages and remains one the most authentic makers of serious outdoor equipment and expedition gear. You will find an extensive range offering both in the shops and on line.
Rab On Line Shop. On a par with Mountain Equipment, Rab stands out as the climbers brand. Equally authentic and committed to providing great specialist gear and equipment to its devoted followers.Historically known for its down products Rab has since developed in all key clothing and accessory areas. At Browns we range from across Rab's categories and as you would expect always manage to offer some exceptional deals and offers.
Osprey On Line Shop. Osprey are a quality pack maker of distinction, they have a great heritage as well as a name for functionality and design. Perhaps its because they only make packs and bags that they are rather good at it. See their ranges in store and on line.
